PHASE II (2009-10)

Science Teams

Title II CRISP Project

(College Readiness in Science Project) under the leadership of Dr. Pinky Nelson, Western Washington University will continue focusing on College Readiness, specifically the student attributes, through two teams of middle and high schools (Mount Vernon and Blaine, Washington).  Mount Vernon High School, a pilot in the first year of Phase 2, will transition to Title II CRISP.  Dr. Pinky Nelson will remain connected to the HECB College Readiness Project and has invited the Eatonville Team to attend all CRISP professional development events.  Further, CRISP be connected by participate in end-of-the-year HECB/Title II institutes related to college readiness in science.

Eatonville Science Team

Goals for Eatonville pilot will be to implement student self-assessment related specifically to the student attribute of persistence, using a rubric developed in 2008-2009 by the English Pilot Team in Spokane.  Eatonville will be working with 12th grade biology and chemistry students.  Baseline data was established in 2008 and will be used to track changes in student responses toward college readiness perceptions, based on college readiness concepts being integrated into science curriculum.
