Goals & Objectives
GOALS
Using college readiness definitions and attributes developed in Phase 1 of the English and science college readiness project, and with the continued collaboration of high school and college teachers and faculty:
- Improve teaching practices by utilizing college readiness definitions, attributes and strategies that support and enhance K-12 learning goals.
- Help students understand what is needed to successfully complete English and science college-level coursework while in high school.
- Position college readiness in the public’s eye as a principal strategy for reshaping our educational system.
OBJECTIVES
Objective 1: Identify and develop exemplary teaching materials, assignments and assessment practices that promote attainment of college readiness in English and science.
Objective2: Utilize student works and assessments to help measure the effectiveness of college readiness teaching strategies.
Objective 3: Identify professional development training models that incorporate college readiness teaching strategies as a means of improving teaching and learning.
Objective 4: Develop a communications plan that informs students, parents, educators, state policymakers and the general public about the imperative of college readiness in today’s and tomorrow’s information- and technology-driven global economy.
